Elena Arveras

Policy Officer Non-Financial Reporting, European Commission

Since 2018 Elena Arveras has been policy officer for sustainability reporting in the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union (DG FISMA). Since the publication of the Commission’s Action Plan on Sustainable Finance she has worked in different policymaking initiatives such as the revision of the guidelines on non-financial reporting with regard to climate information, and the ongoing revision of the Non-financial Reporting Directive. She started her career in the banking and consumer goods industry in Germany, working in management controlling and treasury. She studied Law and Business Administration at Universidad Pontificia Comillas (Madrid), including abroad studies during two years, one in Germany and another in Austria.

Kevin Bourne

Vice President, Sustainable Finance, IHS Markit

Mr. Bourne is deeply involved with solving the ESG data jigsaw puzzle created by the growing need to link multiple frameworks together to capture the most effective library of relevant information. Mr. Bourne leads the build out of the IHS Markit data platform that covers both companies & countries ESG profiles. He is particularly focused on the growing engagement by national regulators and supervisory bodies with the establishment of their own ESG frameworks. He manages the internal ESG data repository that cross references fourteen leading frameworks such as UN SDGs, TCFD, SASB, GRI with almost ten thousand ESG data points in addition to the IHS Markit ESG schemas for 7,400 public companies & 211 countries.

Previously Mr. Bourne was Global Head of Sustainable Investment at LSEG/FTSE Russell and was responsible for implementing their new ESG & Green revenues data models, systems and indexes. Prior to this, Kevin has 25 years' experience in equities trading with his final appointment being as Managing Director & Global Head of Electronic & Portfolio Trading at HSBC. He was a founding member of the EMEA FIX committee whilst trading at Salomon Brothers and has seen the material impact that standards can have on financial markets.

Catherine Howarth

Chief Executive, ShareAction

Catherine joined ShareAction as Chief Executive in 2008. She is responsible for the strategic direction and governance of ShareAction.

Catherine is also a board member of the Scott Trust, which owns The Guardian, and serves on its investment committee. She also advises the HM Treasury’s Asset Management Taskforce.

In 2014, Catherine was recognised by the World Economic Forum as a Young Global Leader. Catherine was a Member Nominated Trustee of The Pensions Trust for five years until Spring 2013.

Catherine is invited to speak regularly on the importance of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles for investment, to share her own wealth of experience on this topic and highlight how the investment system can make a difference across ShareAction’s core campaign areas: climate, good work and healthy markets.

Agathi Pafili

Head of Government Relations Europe, Capital Group

Agathi Pafili is head of Europe government relations at Capital Group. She has 17 years of industry experience and has been with Capital Group for one year. Prior to joining Capital, Agathi was a senior policy advisor at the European Funds and Asset Management Association. Before that, she worked in the European Parliament as a cabinet member of the Chair of the Culture and Educations Affairs Committee and a policy advisor to a member of the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee. She holds a master's degree in international and European law and a bachelor's degree in law, both from the Law School of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She is a member of the Athens Bar Association and a member of the ECB's group on Euro risk-free rates. Agathi is based in Brussels..

Elena Philipova

ESG Global Head, Refinitiv, London Stock Exchange Group

Elena is responsible for the end-to-end management of the ESG business, products and services. Elena has been the Rapporteur for the Benchmarks group of the EU Technical Expert Group on Sustainable Finance appointed by the European Commission. Previously, Elena was Head of Company Content Management at Thomson Reuters, where she led the Global Investing and Advisory Content Management Team. Other previous roles at Thomson Reuters include Content Specialist Manager, Content Proposition Manager and Head Data Quality. Elena worked as Senior ESG Analyst at ASSET4, the ESG data provider acquired by Thomson Reuters in 2009, and started her career as Research Analyst at Morgan Stanley. Elena holds an MBA and BA in Finance and International business from Stetson University.
